Man Is Nothing But What He Makes Of Himself ~~ Jean Paul Sartre

Strange statement. I paused in my reading and pondered its obvious exhortation. I allowed the text to form images in my mind … I urged and coaxed my brain to trigger analogies that might offer me some insight. I explored the possibility that this statement might in fact, have a deeper sublime message as it stands nonchalant, yet taunts me with its stark simplicity … until this visual caught my eye!

The nakedness of his painful strive demonstrates man’s authenticity as he consciously and vigorously reacts to his environment, creating values as he perseveres through strive … and brings to mind another of Sartre’s dictum …

Values so generated by painful strive are the only values actually realizable and worthy of human pursuit.
